Your heart races, you get hot, you sweat, your blood pumps through your veins, you can hear your heart beating loudly… the feeling increases, it gets stronger and stronger and then boom! It unleashes and as it does you start to cool down, grow calmer and then, if you can, fall asleep…

Steamy story or panic attack? It’s hard to tell isn’t it? The reason is it’s the same technology. The same piece of human engineering used differently. Both involve the generation and release of Energy. Both are safe. Neither will kill you. Neither are illnesses.

Earlier this century, the medical profession were locking people up, experimenting on and torturing them because they believed, with utter certainty, they were right and knew what they were doing. Lives were ruined. Families wrecked. Clinicians went home and slept at night.

Later the same century, on the surface, it seems a lot’s changed. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find we haven’t come as far as you might think. When it comes to what we now refer to as ‘mental health’, the medical profession still believes it’s right and because they save lives in hospitals, we believe them.

Earlier this week, the courageous Bake Off Champion, Nadiya Hussain went on a quest for ANSWERS and to restore normal function. What she found was opinion presented as fact that changed her position…

“I came into this thinking that i wanted a cure… I wanted to be fixed, I know now that it’s not a cure I’m looking for because… its not that kind of illness… I have to find a way of managing…”

Belief is powerful but it doesn’t make what you believe true irrespective of who’s supplying the information.

During the first and second world wars people used the word FEAR to describe the exact same set of symptoms that are described today as ‘illnesses’. These illnesses include high anxiety, panic attack and PTSD.

In todays comfy, cosy world where the average person has no involvement or experience of war, FEAR has been turned into an illness and if you’re a pharmaceuticals company, it’s a very lucrative illness indeed.

Buy into symptoms of heightened fear as illnesses and you’ll be stuck with them. Recognise it’s fear you’re dealing with, take a non-medical course of action and it’s easier to get back to being your Self than you think.

“I came into this thinking that i wanted a cure… I wanted to be fixed, I know now that it’s not a cure I’m looking for because… its not that kind of illness… I have to find a way of managing…”

Only if you decide to Nadiya. Only if YOU decide to.
